Shelby Jean Simmons

Mrs. Shelby Jean Simmons, 83, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born on July 12, 1938 in Cornelia, GA she was the daughter of the late John Chambers and the late Winnie Mae Wilson Chambers. She was retired from Mar-Jac.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Leon Simmons; son, Vern Simmons,; daughter, Cathy Hancock; brothers, Richard Chambers, Guy Chambers; sisters, Louella Martin and Pat Sullens.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Bruce of Gainesville; grandchildren, Allen Head (Shannon), Amanda Head, James Hancock (Courtney), Amber Hancock; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Sullens and Cathy Jarrard both of Gainesville and a number of other loving relatives.
