Martha Chambers "Sissy" Pledger

Mrs. Martha Chambers “Sissy” Pledger age 78 Of Gainesville, Ga passed away on Thursday August 19, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

          Graveside services are scheduled for Monday August 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate.

          Sissy was born on May 12, 1943 in Sylva, North Carolina to the late Robert Chambers and Gladys Cox Chambers. Sissy graduated from Gainesville High School in 1961 followed by Young Harris College and the University of Georgia. She retired from the Ga Department of Human Resources and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Ga. Gardening was Sissy’s passion. She earned the Master Gardner designation 20 years ago, and belonged to the Fleur de Lis Garden Club. She loved the mountains and spending time at the beach with her grand-daughters. She is preceded in death by her parents.

          Martha is survived by her husband, Ed Pledger of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Scott Pledger (Jennifer) of Jefferson, daughter, Paige Pledger of Newnan, Ga, brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Chambers (Patti) of Gainesville, grandchildren, Maya Pledger, Sidney Hanson, niece, Sally Chambers Kirchner (Karry), nephew, Rob Chambers (Sally), and a host of other family members and friends.
