Lois Cain Hope

Obituary Date: Tuesday, September 7, 2021

Lois Cain Hope, 89, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, September 6. Lois was born on October 7, 1931 in Clermont, GA to the late Jess G. Cain and Annie Little Cain. She was a loving wife to her husband, George, for 58 years before his passing in 2011. Lois was also a dedicated mother to sons Alan and Scott (deceased), and "proud as peach" grandmother to grandson Taylor. Lois graduated from Clermont High School and then attended North Georgia College. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Walton Jackson Co. and later at Britt Martin Hardware.

Lois was a member of Central Baptist Church in Gainesville for more than 70 years. She served on several committees and her life revolved around the church and the countless Sunday mornings at Central. She also loved driving around the North Hall area and meeting each week with her longtime friends for a game of Canasta and dessert.

Lois was a fixture at local restaurants with son Alan and wife, Vicki who would wait on Lois to finish conversations with the many friends and relatives they encountered. She regularly talked about growing up in Clermont with her family, friends and school classmates. She spoke about life on the farm being tough but rewarding, creating memories that lasted her lifetime.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jess G. Cain and Annie Little Cain, sister, Sylvia Cain Mayfield, brother Euel Cain, husband George Herbert Hope, and son Brian Scott Hope.

Survivors include son, George Alan Hope (Vicki) of Gainesville; grandson Taylor Alan Hope of Redmond, WA; sisters-in-law Ethel Page of Gainesville, Barbara Hope of Cleveland, GA, and brother-in-law Dr. Jimmy Hope (Judy) of Gainesville.

The graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Sunday, September 12th. A socially-distanced outdoor gathering of family and friends begins at 3 p.m. with the ceremony beginning at 3:30 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Taylor and Dr. Jimmy Hope.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 444, Gainesville, GA 30503.
