Candice Knight LaPointe

Candice Knight LaPointe, Age 56, of Cleveland, Ga, was known by her friends and family as Candi, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021.

She was born on September 30, 1964, and passed away on September 5, 2021, in Gainesville, GA after a courageous fight with cancer and Covid-19.

Candi was preceded in death by her father, Howard Knight.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jay LaPointe; Daughter, Karlene LaPointe (Kiel Barkley); granddaughter, Ella;  Mother Paula Knight; brother, Paul Knight (Delise); sister Cheri Meitz (Jeff); Nephew and Niece Austin and Katie Meitz and numerous other relatives.

Candi grew up in Macon, GA and graduated from Central High School. She continued her education at Mercer University in Macon and then studied at Fayetteville Technical Community College where she received a degree as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. She worked for many years at the Medical Center of Central Georgia as a compassionate and dedicated respiratory therapist.

One of Candi’s greatest loves was all of God’s beautiful creatures. Candi’s love for animals was only surpassed by her dedication to educate and share her knowledge and love of animals with everyone else. Candi was an artist whose commissioned works brought joy to so many people. Her love for art and animals overlapped and because of her great understanding of animals, she was able to capture the expressions and souls of the animals she painted. Another love she had was volunteering at the North Georgia Zoo, where she was able to share her love and passion of all of God’s creatures. Due to her love and passion for animals, we found it fitting that in Candi’s honor, donations be made to the North Georgia Wildlife Park, 2912 Paradise Valley Rd.
