Lawrence Joseph Sulka

Obituary Date: Friday, September 10, 2021

Lawrence Joseph Sulka of Alpharetta, Georgia faded away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on September 10, 2021. He was 75.

Born and raised in Chicago, Larry studied at Loyola University Chicago before moving to Atlanta to attend pharmacy school at Mercer University. On a blind date, he met his future wife, Patricia Fisher Sulka, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

A pharmacist by trade, Larry was also a skilled builder both literally and figuratively.  He completed countless home improvement projects, but his true legacy lies in the family he built with Patricia and the three children they raised together: Brian, Jeffrey, and Angela.

For Larry, building was not about peppering the world with things, but about continual improvement of himself and those around him.  He excelled not only in creating the spaces for moments and memories to occur, but in making those events come to fruition.  After retirement, Larry focused on time with family, and especially cherished his time with his grandchildren.  Through his acts of service he modeled his values of faith, family, and strong work ethic especially when it came to helping others.  His faith in God was integral to him and guided him throughout his life.  These values coupled with his love and devotion to his wife carried them through the illnesses and tribulations that marked the final years of her life.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Fisher Sulka. He is also preceded by his parents, Walter and Mae Sulka. He is survived by his sister, Barbara DiCrencezo (Nick) of Chicago, IL, and his children, Brian Sulka (Amy), Jeffrey Sulka (Katie) and Angela Maher (Dermot), as well as nine grandchildren, Jacob Sulka, Dylan Sulka, Ethan Sulka, Emily Sulka, Aidan Maher, Aoife Maher, Brad Moye, Holden Moye, and Kaitlyn Moye.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nancy Fisher and Betty Fisher (Jon Marinelli).

Larry was generous, kind and quick witted.  He left an indelible mark on those he loved and leaves a strong legacy of devotion to faith, family, and service to others.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 17th at Christ The Redeemer Church of Dawsonville, GA at 3:00 pm with interment to follow at Sawnee View Cemetery in Cumming, GA.

The funeral mass will be broadcast on Christ the Redeemer's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CTRDAWSONVILLE/
