Patty Carolyn Gaines

Patty Carolyn Gaines of Flowery Branch died from an extended battle with Leukemia on September 16, 2021. Patty was born in 1944 in Summerland, MS. She was raised in Pascagoula, MS and lived in Georgia for 51 years. Ms. Gaines was an accomplished pianist, an avid reader and she loved to travel with her family and her friends. Patty visited 49 of the states, 10 foreign countries and studied two Summers in Europe while she was in college. Ms. Gaines graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brenau University with dual degrees in Criminal Justice and Spanish.

She had been a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and most recently Free Chapel Church in Gainesville.

Patty Gaines is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Elvia Windham, two brothers, one sister and a nephew.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Hunnings Cravero (Joe Cravero), Dawn Gaines-Free (Rodney Free) and Gail Gaines Boatner (David Boatner); her grandchildren: Casey Collins (Katherine), Ryan Cravero (Olivia), Noelle Free and Cameren Boatner; her great grandchildren: Alayna, Kelsie, Brooke and Barry Collins; her older sister, Jewell Thomas of MS; her niece Elviaruth Carpenter of FL, her beloved sister-in-law JoAnn Windham of MS; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, GA and later, a ‘celebration of life’ gathering - TBD.
