Dr. Warren Starr Minton, Jr.

Obituary Date: Wednesday, December 8, 2021

Dr. Warren Starr Minton, Jr., born November 3, 1943, passed away on December 8, 2021.  He had a kind, gentle spirit and was adored by his family and friends.

The family is having a Celebration of Life from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, December 21 at The Chattahoochee Country Club, 3000 Club Drive, Gainesville GA, 30506.  Warren wanted us to celebrate his life and share joyous stories in his honor. 

Warren was born in Macon, GA to Warren Starr Minton, Sr. and Martha Rountree Minton.  He is survived by his sister, Jo Minton Kelly (WJ “Pepper”) of Lakemont, GA as well as his three children, Amy Minton Peck of Gainesville, GA, Katie Minton Odegard (Damon) of Roswell, GA, John Christopher Minton of Gainesville, GA, along with seven grandchildren. 

He grew up in Macon, GA and graduated from Lanier High School and was a member of the Military Drill Team.  Later he attended Mercer University followed by The University of Georgia.  He graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, March 1968 where he was a member of the Dental Fraternity, Psi Omega.

Warren was a Captain in the US Air Force at Langley Air Force Base, in Hampton, VA. from May 1968 to May 1969. He served at the US Air Force base in Korat, Thailand from June 1969 to June 1970.  He then returned to Atlanta and practiced dentistry in Buckhead from July 1970 to March 1971 before starting his dental practice in Gainesville, GA.  He loved the small town of Gainesville and practiced for more than 40 years before retiring.  Warren was in the Quest Forum Dental Study Club, Hall County Dental Society, Georgia Dental Association and the American Dental Association.  He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Lakewood Baptist Church, and volunteered with dentistry at Good News at Noon Clinic in Gainesville, GA.

Dr. Minton loved his family, his dogs and sports cars. He was a loyal University of Georgia Bulldog fan, loved traveling, and enjoyed water and snow skiing in his earlier years. 

Warren’s family expresses their sincere appreciation for the love and care from the staff at Ashton Senior Living of Gainesville, GA where he has lived for the past four years.
