Anita Smith Ferguson

Anita Smith Ferguson, age 67 of Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 24, 2022 following an extended illness.

Born at the Charm House in Clarkesville, Georgia on October 02, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Ray Larkin & Virrie Virginia Smith. Anita was a graduate of Habersham Central High School, Class of 1972. She was the Nutrition Manager with Clarkesville Elementary School & retired with 30 years of dedicated service. In her spare time, Anita enjoyed cooking and decorating for various holidays including Christmas. She loved her family gatherings and precious time with her husband, children, & grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Smith; sister, Rita Smith Holcomb; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Burrell & Christine Loudermilk.

Survivors include her devoted & loving husband of 39 years, Richard Ferguson of Demorest, GA; daughter, Ginny Mae Ferguson Thibeault of Demorest, GA; grandchildren, Kali Giaquinta of Lula, GA; McKenna Giaquinta, Kolton Thibeault, Sylas Thibeault, & Breckyn Thibeault all of Demorest, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Rhonda & Gary Sutton of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, GA; brother, Tim Smith of Clarkesville, GA; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Shirley & Lamar Shook of Clarkesville, GA; Martha Ann & Eddie Autry of Cleveland, GA; Betty Jean & Bill Black of Dahlonega, GA; brother-in-law, Randy Ferguson of Clarkesville, GA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, & a host of friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Mr. Ronnie Smith & Mr. Tim Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the service hour on Wednesday. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
