Maxie Wenola Garrett

Mrs. Maxie Wenola Garrett, age 82, of Dahlonega, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Maxie was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County.  She was born on December 28, 1939, to the late Duffy and Elsie Lingerfelt Grizzle.  Meeting and knowing Maxie was a true blessing to anyone who was the recipient of her love and generosity.  She was a dedicated wife to her beloved late husband Robert Garrett.  Maxie and Robert had a very special love that they shared.  From traveling to loving their nieces and nephews as their own, their love transcended beyond what could ever be expected.  Maxie loved to learn.  She continued her education to become a licensed cosmetologist and a licensed practical nurse.  Maxie was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she will be greeted in Heaven by Ostena Grizzle and Boyd Ray, Dena and Jewell Justice, Gwen and Dillard Norrell, Clyde and Betty Grizzle, L.D. and Shirley Grizzle, Fred Grizzle, J.W. Lee, John Summerour, and Mildred Gainer.

She will be deeply missed here by her sisters Mae Lee, Murrayville; Blonnie Summerour, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law Judd and Cunnie Grizzle, Dahlonega; several beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and numerous special friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.  The Rev. Jason Fuller and the Rev. Daniel Sparks will officiate.  Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Stover officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to the service hour Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the funeral home.
