Warren G. Maxie

Obituary Date: Thursday, February 10, 2022

Warren G. Maxie, 86, of Talking Rock, formerly of Cumming passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022. Warren was born April 9, 1935 in Knott County, KY to the late Garfield and Della Maxie. He was a very likeable person…to meet him was to love him. He enjoyed bluegrass festivals, NASCAR and traveling. Always witty with a great sense of humor, Warren adored his family, especially his grandkids. He was a retired truck driver with Cumming Rock Company.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Maxie; son, Warren (Jr.) Maxie; granddaughter, Tasha Maxie; great grandson, Brandon Ayers; grandsons, James Maxie and J.R. Maxie; brother, Alonzo Maxie; sisters, Rhoda Hatala, Lillian Gilley, Virginia Holderfield, and Aileen Akins.

 

Survivors include his wife, Jean Gravitt; children, David and Sandra Maxie, Roger and Shirley Maxie, James and Vicky Maxie, Glen and Tonya Maxie, Christie Burks; step-children, Brian and Donna Gravitt, Tammy and Keith/Amos Pace; Brother and sister-in-law, Carl D. (Melissa) Maxie; sisters, Mable Dudley and Lola B. Stover; 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15, at 12:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Byrd and Rev. Allen Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m., Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
