Marie Meschael Webb

Obituary Date: Monday, March 7, 2022

Mrs. Marie Meschael Webb, age 86 of Dahlonega, Georgia, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022. She was born on September 13, 1935 in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Claude White and the late Corrine Nix White.

Marie, or more commonly known by most as "Grammie", was truly a one-of-a-kind woman. She was an adventurer at heart. Marie was an avid traveler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was once known to have packed out a 1,500 lb bull moose from the Alaska back country. A lover of Elvis Presley, his music often echoed through her halls and she even had a room of her house dedicated to him and her experiences. Those fortunate enough to know Marie never doubted that they had a true, loyal, and attentive friend in her. She was great fun to be with and adventure was always right around the corner when you were with her. Above all else, she loved her family deeply, laughed with them often, and gave freely of herself. Marie worked hard to be the best daughter, sister, mother, and Grammie that anyone could ever ask for. Her grandchildren were undoubtedly the light of her life and were loved by her uniquely and beyond measure.

Being born and raised in Dahlonega, Marie was a true "Nugget". She was a 1953 graduate of Lumpkin County High School. Marie made Wasilla, Alaska a treasured home for quite some time, but Dahlonega always kept a very special place in her heart and it had an undeniable pull. Anytime she would visit, she would ride circles around the square just reminiscing her childhood and telling stories about times past to anyone who would listen. Once her children were raised and her husband passed away, Marie followed her heart and soul back to Dahlonega for good. Once returned, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, J.R.(Junior Cain) and they lived happily for many years, enjoying the local bluegrass scene together, right up to his passing. Grammie will be missed, but never mourned. She was a force of nature and filled her family’s lives with warmth, joy, laughter, and love… a life that will be remembered and celebrated always.

Of herself, she left us with this, “I always tried to be cheerful, kind, and positive. I am blessed to have had my family around me always. They are wonderful people. I’ve enjoyed so much being a mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Most of all, I am thankful to the good Lord for all of the days he has given me.”

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Doug Reece and Don Reece; siblings, Nell Miller and Dale White; and grandson, Clay Reece.

She is survived by her children, Deborah (Fred) Park of Anchorage, Alaska and Dennis (Jill) Webb of Hayden, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Angela Creel-Reece of Dawsonville, Georgia; grandchildren, Kit (Shannon) Lahrson, Jerod Park, Rebecca Webb, Paige (Alex) Stieglitz, and Brayden Creel; and great-grandchildren, Cydney and Olivia Lahrson. Numerous friends and other relatives also survive.

It was Mrs. Webb's wish to be cremated with no services to be held. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Marie wished for those funds to be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) … a cause near and dear to her heart.
