Billie Jean Cole

Obituary Date: Saturday, March 12, 2022

Mrs. Billie Jean Cole, age 93 of Gainesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Memorial Park South Chapel with interment following at Jones Cemetery in Ewing, VA. Rev. John Batusic will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cole was born December 23, 1928 to the late Orbin Shields & Minnie Ethel Clarkson. She was the oldest of seven children.  She was married to Franklin P. Cole who preceded her in death in 1990.  She worked many jobs but loved being a Sr. Accountant for the State of Georgia - DeKalb County Health Department for almost 20 years. She retired to the Gainesville area where she joined the Gainesville Newcomers Club and played cards with a canasta group filled with “the finest ladies you could know”.  She was a member of the Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church for 28 years and faithful woman of God.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Grandfield, son-in-law, Scott Grandfield, loyal companion Rusty and her sister Bobbie Miles, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. She had a great love for them all and will be remembered for her love to laugh, her big bear hugs and slaps on the back.
