Janey Lovell Lampros

Obituary Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2022

Janey Lovell Lampros, age 87, passed away March 23, 2022 after a period of declining health. She was born August 3, 1934 the daughter of the late Fulton V. Lovell and Winnie Davis Lovell.  Janey grew up in Clayton, Georgia. She graduated from Rabun County High School in 1952.  She graduated from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing with an R.N. At Georgia Baptist, she met Dr. Pete Lampros. They were married on May 26, 1956 until his death in 2006.  

Janey worked as a registered nurse at Rabun Memorial Hospital for several years. Later, she owned and operated Janey’s Creative Needlework on East Savannah Street in Clayton. She was a longtime member of Clayton First United Methodist Church.

Janey was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C. Peter Lampros, and her parents.

She is survived by two sons Anthony Lampros (Sharon) of Clayton, and Andrew Lampros (Suzanne) of Kennesaw; a daughter, Mary Ruth King (Mark) of Timberlake, NC; a sister, Mary Sue Lovell Hodges of Stateboro; a brother, Larkin Dixon of Clayton; nine grandchildren: Ryan Lampros (Rachel) of Hendersonville, NC; Everett Lampros of Clayton; Lindsey (Scott) Ferretti of Angier, NC; Pierce Fields of Tiger; Erica Fields of Tiger; Macy Fields of Asheville, NC; Peter Lampros of Jacksonville, FL; Liza Lampros and John Lampros of Kennesaw; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.  Janey especially enjoyed visits and Facetime calls with her five North Carolina great granddaughters, Ada and Josephine Lampros, Kitley and Evvie Ferretti and Ameita Berrier.       

The family is grateful to Violet and Charles Coalley for the attention and care they provided Janey during the last few years.  The family also is grateful for the care and comfort provided by the staff at Cannonwood and her caregivers during her last weeks: Tara Sparks, Kerstin Dreher, Baylee Cook and Oliva Dixon.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Beck Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Al Francis, Dan Keller, Roy Lovell, Horace Ramey, Ken Rumsey and Allyn Stockton.      

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Clayton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Zack Martin and Rev. Lee Krivsky officiating. Interment will follow in the Roane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to Paws 4 Life P.O. Box 216 Clayton, Ga. 30525 or to the UGA Foundation, University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. 30602 for the Lampros Family Scholarship Fund, an endowed undergraduate need-based scholarship providing financial support in perpetuity to deserving students in the state of Georgia who otherwise could not afford to attend the University.
