Billy E. Smith, Sr. 89 of Gainesville died Wednesday April 13, 2022.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Smith was the son of the late John Floyd and Gladys Smith. Mr. Smith served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired, but before retirement he owned and operated Billy E. Smith Wrecker Service in Gainesville for a number of years. Mr. Smith was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Deaton Smith, Gainesville, son, Billy E. Smith, Jr., Gainesville, sister, Mildred Tilley, Gainesville, brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Andrea Smith, Gainesville. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Milton Harris will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Calvin Smith.
