Captain Ronald Arthur Verplaetse

Captain Ronald Arthur Verplaetse, of Buford, Georgia, passed away, May 30, 2022.  He is survived by his wife, Dianne R. Verplaetse, daughter Stephanie Morningstar, step-daughter Stacey Dodson and her husband Mike, grandchildren Tenaya Morningstar, Rylan and Jack Dodson, his sister Audrey Maki and numerous other relatives. 

Ron enlisted in the US Navy in 1958 as an ensign, obtained two Masters Degrees (Business Administration and Navy Command and Staff), moved up ranks to Captain and became a Supply Corp Officer until 1988.  He enjoyed wood carving and was often found proudly talking about his creations.  His other hobbies were the art of pysanky and quilling.  His patience was often noticed in his demeanor, and reflected in his intricate details of his art.

Ron will be remembered by his infectious smile, his wisdom and story telling, and his love for all people.  Ron will be greatly missed; however, we know he is whole and celebrating with his Savior in Heaven.   A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Church on the Hill, 4600 Nelson Brogdon Blvd, in Buford on June 9^th, which would have been Ron’s 86^th Birthday.
