Donald Joe Kerns

Mr. Donald Joe Kerns, age 85 of Gainesville, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Mark Smith and Reverend Donald McDuffie will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 7 – 9 pm at the funeral home.    

Mr. Kerns was born January 11, 1937 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Joe Dan Kerns and Lottie Allison Kerns.  He was retired as the owner and operator of Don Kerns Wrecker Service since 1959.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, Norma Norrell Kerns, his son, Chip Kerns and his grandson, Joey Kerns.

Mr. Kerns is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Kathy & Steve Martin of Gainesville, his grandchildren, D. J. & Emily Kerns of Braselton, Amanda Payne of Gainesville and Katie & Matt Nussbaum of Savannah, his great-grandchildren, Lottie Kerns of Winder, Brooklyn Patterson of Gainesville and Parker Payne of Gainesville and his sisters, Betty Roberts and Pat Throckmorton, both of Newport News, Virginia.  Also surviving are two of Don’s special friends, Donnie & Pam Wehunt of Gainesville.
