David Bolt Davenport, Sr.

Obituary Date: Monday, June 20, 2022
David Bolt Davenport, Sr., age 61, of Gainesville, Ga passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

David was born in Laurens, South Carolina on November 11, 1960 to the late George Robert "Rock" Davenport, Sr. and Lucille Bolt Davenport. He was a Gainesville High School graduate of the class of 1979 before attending Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach. David also spent eight years proudly serving our country in the U.S. navy where he made lifelong friends whom he stayed in contact with on a daily basis. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

David was best known for his kind heart, playful personality, and great sense of humor. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his children more than anything. God gave David the gift of spending his last day on this Earth (Father's Day) with his children before calling him home in the wee hours of Monday morning, where he passed peacefully at the Ronnie Green Heart Center surrounded by his wife and children.

When David wasn't spending time with his family, he was usually on the river fishing.  He would always catch his limit and then spend the rest of the afternoon finding people to give the trout away to. David also loved to grill, camp, hike and spend time with his family. He was talented in many ways and could fix just about anything whether it needed it or not.

David is preceded in death by his father George Robert "Rock" Davenport, Sr., his mother Lucille Bolt Davenport and older brothers Mark Livingston Davenport and and George Robert "Bob" Davenport, Jr. He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Tammy Davenport, his son David Bolt Davenport, Jr., and his twin daughters Karey Anne Davenport and Haley Lynn Davenport. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Davenport McCrory, sister-in-law Anne Davenport, nieces Lindsay Allison, Maranda Songer, nephew Trey Davenport, 3 great nephews and a great niece.

A celebration of life is planned at the pavilion at Gainesville American Legion on Saturday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Georgia Wildlife Federation.
