Mr. Thomas Cecil Frier, Jr. of Gainesville, GA passed away on Friday July 15, 2022, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center - Braselton, surrounded by family, at the age of 72, following a short and intense bout with Covid.
“Butch”, as he was affectionately known as a child, was born on January 19, 1950, in Whitmire SC, to Cecil and Dorothy Frier, who proceeded him in death.
Tom graduated from William R Davie High School in Roanoke Rapids, NC and went on to begin his career in Information Technology with JP Stevens. In 1974 Tom went to work for Kennedy & Cohen, where he met his beloved wife Lisa. He incorporated several businesses including Information Flow and Liaison Systems before going to work for Georgia Pacific, where he retired in 2006 as Lead Systems Analyst.
Tom loved everyone and he loved life. He was kind and generous, smart and funny and the kind of man that made anywhere feel like home. He loved music, taught himself to play the guitar and sang at the top of his lungs. He whistled while he worked, laughed from his belly and loved with his whole heart. He was also a proud member of the “Ring of Fire” motorcycle club out of Winder, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Frier; his sister, Angela Powell; his daughter, Kimberly Shearin and husband Craig Shearin; his son, Thomas Frier III and wife Sharon Frier; his daughter, Sarah Frier. He is also survived by his grandchildren Duncan Frye, Phenix Frier, Jacob Frier, Justin Frier, Zachery Shearin, Peyton Lewis and great grandchild Walker Frye.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Memorial Park South Chapel in Flowery Branch, GA. Rev. Mike Pinson will officiate.
