Bobby Conner

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 28, 2022
Bobby Conner, 77 of Murrayville passed away Sunday August 28, 2022 at his residence.

Born in Hall County, Mr. Conner was the son of the late Worth Jackson and Bertha Head Conner.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Air Force. While in service he taught English to Korean soldiers.

Bob lived for his family, taking no greater joy than seeing his children and grandchildren and watching them grow and succeed.  He was an advocate for education throughout his life, achieved his Master's degree in education, and taught high school Social Studies/History at Cherokee High School.

After his retirement, he was able to enjoy his passion for travel and saw many corners of the world, visiting over 15 countries in recent years and experiencing their cultures and histories. Through genealogical research, he was even able to visit a small village in Germany, where much of the Conner lineage descended from, and was able to meet many distant relatives who still live there.

A highlight of his life's work was genealogy. Over decades, he researched, created networks, and documented his family's ancestry, going back many hundreds of years. He leaves for his descendants a complete library of many people and places from which we originated.

Bob held a number of memberships of which he was heavily involved in, and donated significantly to many organizations within the community and abroad, including his Alma Mater Reinhardt College, The Georgia Geneological Society, the Hall County Library System, American Legion Post #7, Germanna Foundation, Georgia GREA museum, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, various American Veterans organizations, among numerous others.

The family would also like to share condolences to Jane Shelnutt and Ben Medina, on the loss of their very dear friend.

Survivors include his sister, Ann (Doug) Walton, Flowery Branch, GA, brothers, Owen (Mary Lou) Conner, Murrayville, GA, Haney (Wilma) Conner, Flowery Branch, GA, son, Adam (Maria) Conner, Gainesville, GA, son, David Conner, Gainesville, GA, daughter, Laura Koneval, Gainesville, GA, son, Jack (Averie) Conner, Fortville, IN, son, Seth (Jennifer) Conner, Lilburn, GA, daughter, Whitney (Bill) Turner, Gainesville, GA, daughter, Shea (Daniel) Shields, Cullowhee, NC.
