Georgia Lee Newberry

Ms. Georgia Lee Newberry, age 73, of Buford passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Memorial Services will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home.  Rev. Fredrick Polk and Rev. Melissa Polk will officiate.  The family will receive friends 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Ms. Newberry was born June 14, 1949 to the late Joseph & LaRue Brown Strawder in Redding, Pennsylvania.  Retired from her work in Property Management, she enjoyed home healthcare and volunteering for the VA.  A few other things she enjoyed was: playing bingo, traveling, visiting the beach (especially St. Augustine and the Jetty's) as well as caring for her many plants.  

Ms. Newberry is survived by her son, Rodney (Melanie) Newberry of Baconton, GA.; daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Taylor of Muskogee, OK, Teri (Steve) Pitts of Buford, GA, Wendi Zierten (Jay Levin) of Flowery Branch, GA, Connie (Rocky) Gravley of Dawsonville, GA and Jennifer (Joey) Mihalics of Gautier, MS; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and her beloved sister, Billie Sue (Ben) Corley. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stevie Ray Pitts; grandson, Emory Cox; and siblings Jay Strawder Jr., Cheryl Hendrix, David Strawder, and Marie Patton.
