Dwight "Slim" Kinsey

Dwight "Slim" Kinsey, 77 of Gainesville died Sunday October 2, 2022, at his residence.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Dwight was the son of the late Garland Lee and Emma Buffington Kinsey. Slim retired from Southland Casket Company, now known as Aurora/Matthews Solutions, with many years of service.  He also worked for the Georgia State Patrol for a number of years.  He was a member of Redwine United Methodist Church.

Since the early age of 15, Slim worked for Little & Davenport Funeral Home before going to work for Southland Casket Company.  In 1980 he opened what everyone in the funeral home business in Northeast Georgia and all over the state of Georgia, as Kinsey Supply Company.  After retirement, Slim came back to work at Little & Davenport Funeral Home as a Funeral Associate until his health declined. 

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Harper Kinsey, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Doug Gay, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, David and Shirrie Kinsey, Gainesville; grandchildren, Blake Jarrett, Brittany Dibble (Tyler), all of Gainesville; great grandchildren, Ella Dibble, Emmy Dibble, Ealyn Dibble; brother, Phillip Kinsey, Clermont; brother-in-law, Horace Harper, Jr., Marble, North Carolina.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday October 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Wednesday October 5 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday October 6 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions please be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
