Anita Ruth Clark, age 71, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 following a sudden illness.
Ruth was born March 18, 1951 in Morganton, NC. She is preceded in death by her mother, Roberta (Sherer) Clark, father, Winston Clark, Sr., infant nephew, John Clark, Jr., and niece, Jessica (Clark) Wright.
She is survived by her brother Winston Clark Jr. and sister-in-law, John (Connie) Clark, her sisters and brother-in-law, Becky (Steve) Short, special niece, Hannah Short and her chosen sister and sister-in-law, Lisa (Nancy) Morris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a nurse who dedicated over forty years of her life to the patients and staff of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Starting on night shift in the ICU, she rose through the ranks to the position of night Nursing Supervisor for the majority of her career. She earned the love and respect of peers and staff while patients benefitted from her expertise and advocacy. She retired in 2010 to care for aging family members. After her mother’s death in 2014, she opened her heart and home to medically fragile foster babies for a number of years.
Ruth’s varied talents and interests included sewing, cooking, gardening, birdwatching, her many pets, and traveling to her beloved Sanibel Island and North Carolina coast. Her love and selflessness touched innumerable lives but most of all her family and close friends. She will be missed beyond measure.
