Eric Jon Gray was born November 1st, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the second of four children born to George and Wanda Gray. He departed this life on Tuesday October 25th, 2022, at Emory Clifton Campus.
Eric attended St. Simon School where he was also baptized at. After leaving St. Simon school he went on to Lincoln Heights elementary and then Lincoln Heights High School. Eric then went on to graduate from Princeton High School in 1971.
Eric went on to receive his bachelor’s in political science from the University of Cincinnati, His master’s degree from Miami University and his Doctorate degree from Harvard University.
Eric worked for Lincoln Heights City Hall and then went on to work 35 years for Cincinnati Bell/AT&TT where he retired as project manager on December 31, 2021. Eric met some really wonderful people in the 35 years that he worked with this company. Some that he truly considered more than co-workers.
In 2005 Eric met the love of his life DeForrest R. Glover-Gray.
Eric enjoyed traveling internationally around the world from the Caribbean to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Eric was passionate about reading he believe in having a great education. Eric enjoyed bicycling and gardening as well. He loved to make people laugh and especially the love of his life Ralph. Eric was big on giving back to the community he would often volunteer and help anybody he could.
Eric was predeceased by his grandparents Abraham Gray and Minnie Gray and William Olverson and Sarah Olverson.
Eric leaves to cherish his loving memories. His loving and devoted husband DeForrest R. Glover-Gray, Parents; George and Wanda Gray of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brother George (Sherry) Gray, Copperas Cove, Tx, Sister, Dwan (Timothy) Moore, Brother, Gary (Kellie) Gray, Cincinnati, Ohio. Father-in-law; Douglas Glover, Omaha NB, Mother-in-law Feliess King, Talan Mexico, Sister-in-laws Jazzcelyn Glover and Daness Glover. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins’ relatives and friends. He leaves three special nephews, Gary Gray Jr, Kameron Gray and Jaylen Glover and a special niece Janiyah Houston.
A very special thank you goes out to JuQuetta and Michael Duggans and Quinice Stephens. The love and support that you showed Eric and Ralf during this time will never be forgotten. The Gray family is so appreciative.
The Celebration of Life will be held for Mr. Gray on Saturday, November 12th at Willie A Watkins Event Center between the hours of 1-3pm. Professional Service Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
