Phillip Joseph Ferrell

Mr. Phillip Joseph Ferrell, 69, of Buford, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 9th in Gainesville, GA. 

A memorial service will be held at Free Chapel, main campus in the Chapel, 3001 McEver Rd., GA, 30504 on Wednesday, November 16th at 11:00 a.m.  The family will receive friends at Free Chapel from 10:00 a.m-11:00 a.m. Reception will follow service in fellowship hall.

Born on February 8, 1953 in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Phillip G. Ferrell and Jane Ferrell. Joe had a double Master’s Degree from Morgantown, WV: Masters in Sports Medicine (1977) and then class of 1978 Masters in Safety Engineering. He was retired from the Nuclear Power industry whereby he worked his whole career.  He finished out his calling as former VP of Sales & Marketing at Babcock and Wilcox headquartered in Charlotte, NC, He was a member of Free Chapel in Gainesville, GA.

Hiking with his wife was something Joe loved to do.  They owned a cabin in Gatlinburg, TN and had many friends there.  There was always another adventure awaiting wherever they traveled. Joe loved riding his bike and on days alternating, loved working out in the gym.  He had an amazing sense of humor and the ability to make people smile was a true gift from God. He was a God-fearing man and absolutely loved Free Chapel; rarely did he miss a service.  Joe and his wife Debra took two trips to Israel with the church and this was another place that he so truly loved.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ferrell was preceded by his daughter, Allison O’Connor (Dan).  Mr. Ferrell is survived by his wife, Debra Ferrell of Buford, GA, his son, Patrick Ferrell of Georgetown, TX and his brother Sam Ferrell of Charleston, WV.

Joes final resting place will be in St. Mary’s, WV at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
