Clarence R. "Ronnie" Ransom

Mr. Clarence R. “Ronnie” Ransom, age 79, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ronnie was born August 30, 1943 in Gainesville, Georgia, the son of the late Clarence Ray and Clara Mae (White) Ransom. He graduated from Gainesville High School Class of 1962. He attended Southern Technology Institute in Marietta. While in college, he bravely enlisted in the United States Army, serving in an intelligence capacity in both Thailand and Vietnam. Ronnie remained a proud veteran, often participating in many veteran activities. In 1968, he met the love of his life, Carol McClure, and they celebrated 52 years of marriage last April. He was a member of the Old Friends Car Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Rock Creek Vietnam Veterans Group. He was once owner and operator of the K and R baseball card shop. Ronnie retired from National Auto Research (Black Book) in 2012. He was also a faithful member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Gainesville, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his son, Kris Ransom, a sister, Linda Montgomery, and a nephew, Stuart Martin.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol Ransom, are a daughter and son-in-law, Bree and Hammond Law, grandsons, Ford Ransom and Ray Ransom, all of Gainesville, a sister, Vicki Martin of Bethlehem,GA nephews, Kip (Stacey) Montgomery of Orlando, FL, Jeff Martin of Dahlonega, GA, Tim Martin of Bethlehem, GA, great-niece, Emma Grace Martin of Atlanta, GA,. Ronnie is also survived by sister-in-law, Linda Peck, and Ann (Whit) Whitmire; Brother-in-laws include Morris (Charlotte) McClure, and Allen McClure. There are a number of nieces and nephews and their children also included. His entire family and numerous friends have unfailing love and respect for this wonderful man.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to  Lakewood Baptist Church, 2235 Thompson Bridge Road Gainesville, GA 3050 or to Rock Creek Vietnam Veterans Group, P.O. Box 3186, Gainesville, Georgia 30603. Gifts can also be made to charities of your choice in Ronnie’s memory.
