Virginia Ann Maxwell Smith

Mrs. Virginia Ann Maxwell Smith was born on June 25, 1953 to the late Frank Maxwell and Pearlie Mae James. She transitioned in her home on November 18, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Smith; father, Verdell James; brothers, Junior Maxwell, Thomas Maxwell, and Joseph Maxwell; sister, Carolyn Maxwell; father-in-law, Sam Smith; and mother-in-law, Bobbie Rowe.

She attended the Elbert County School System. Furthermore, Virginia had a passion for sewing and served for many years as an employee at Oxford Gips and Platon Sewing Plants. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Bowman, GA at an early. On April 15, 1978, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Jerome Smith. To this union, Lasonia and Jermel were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her daughters, Lasonia Smith and Barbara Rucker; son, Jermel (Evelyn) Smith; grandchildren, Jamere Merritt, Makel Merritt, Jaylon Brown, Chayston Smith, Keosha Gibbs, Keairia Rucker, Jamaris Rucker, Shanice Teasley, Keionshay Rucker, and Tynasha Allen; great grandchild, Kensley Grove; mother, Pearlie Mae James; brothers, Willie Maxwell and Bobby Maxwell; sisters, Lucy Mae Morrison and Hilda Teasley; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (Kenny) Hawkins, Darlene (Travis) Partlow, Dianne Smith, Carolyn Morris, Josephine Stoddard, and Jeweline Heard; brothers-in-law, Douglas Smith, Wayne Smith, and Tracy Smith; and God mother, Carlean Tucker.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday November 29, 2022 at 2pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bowman, GA. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held Monday November 28, 2022 from 1pm-7pm.
