Mrs. Florine McKinzey Lackey, age 92, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 after a long illness. Mrs. Lackey was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Lackey was born to the late Ada and Richard J. McKinzey and grew up in the Big Creek area of Forsyth County. She lived most of her life in Chamblee, GA, moving to Cumming in 2006.
In addition to her parents and four sisters, Mrs. Lackey was predeceased by her husband, R.G. Lackey, Jr.; son, Stephen Neal Lackey and grandson, Christopher Fabian Lackey.
Mrs. Lackey is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Larry) Wilson, Jasper, GA, Denise Howell, Decatur, GA, Lesa (Steve) Hagelin, North Wales, PA, Christi Lackey, Cumming, GA and grandsons, Alexander Howell, Bryan Hagelin, Nicholas Hagelin and granddaughter, Emily Howell, as well as several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends prior to her service on Thursday, December 8, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Todd Speed will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelter, 5235 Union Hill Rd, Cumming, GA 30040 (furkids.org) or a charity of your choice.
