Cortess Sandordia Hughey (79) of Gainesville, Ga, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an unexpected illness.
Ms. Hughey was born on October 22, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Cortez & Louise Daniels.
Cortess attended Fair Street, E.E. Butler High School, & Brenau University. She worked at the Gainesville Library (10+ Years) & The Hall County Health Department (30+ Years). She was a member, Choir member, & Sunday School Teacher of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Some of Cortess’s hobbies were, she loved to travel, she loved to serve in her community, she loved shopping. She was always such a hard worker, she always had a gentle heart for others, & always had a smile everywhere she went.
Ms. Hughey was preceded in death by her parents (Mom – Louise Daniels), (Dad – Cortez Daniels) (Brother – Daniel Cortez) & her sisters (Sister – Jacqueline Smith) (Sister – Eleanor Banks).
Cortess is survived by her Sisters - Theresa (Jeff) Rohr, Carla (Robert) Montermayer, Nina (Keith) Shepard, and Colleta Burrough. One brother – Mr. Bo J. Cortez. Nieces – Madelyne (Travis) Lott, Teresa (Darryl) King, LeQuitta Banks, Maya (Tim) Harrison, Martha Smith.
Nephews – Roger Smith Jr., Samuel Smith. Great Nephew – Brandon (Rebekka) Haley: (Helped Raise) And a host of Great nieces & nephews, family, & Friends.
There will be a visitation for Ms. Hughey Friday, December 9th between the hours of 12-5pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 9th at the hour of 6pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
