Allan Jerome Juiffre

Allan Jerome Juiffre, age 82 of Toccoa, took the hand of his loving savior, Jesus Christ, and stepped into Heaven on December 21, 2022.

He was born in Norwich, New York on August 15, 1940 to Tom and Irene Warren Juiffre. The family moved to South Burlington, VT, where Al attended public school. He did soapbox derby, played in the band, and enjoyed downhill skiing. He also attended Champlain College, and then began his lifelong career of managing department stores, from Maine to Florida. At the end of his career, he took pride in selling homes in Toccoa.

In 1984 he married his wife Scarlett, and spent many happy years with her. The most important decision he ever made was accepting Jesus as his savior, and he spent years sharing His love with others.  Upon retiring in 2004 and moving from Gainesville, Georgia to Toccoa, he became very active at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Later on, he attended North Trinity Baptist Church and was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Irene Juiffre; and a sister, Josephine Szymanski.

He is survived by his wife, Scarlett Herron Juiffre of the home; brothers, Anthony (Yvonne) Juiffre of Hanover, PA.; and Steve (Lorraine) Juiffre of Burlington, VT.  Al is also survived by his sons Scott Juiffre of Germany, and James Juiffre (Mona) of Braselton, GA.; daughter, Christine Gates (John) of Proctor, VT; Carol Glaze (Glenn) of Toccoa; grandchildren Ashley Mercandante (Josh) and Alicia Juiffre of Flowery Branch, GA., Sarah Edmonds (Dustin) of Toccoa; Alie Smith of Toccoa; and Anna Glaze of Toccoa. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Patrick and Charlotte Mercandante and Pierce Edmonds.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 1 o’clock p.m. at the Tom’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Stephen Harris and the Reverend Isaac White officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Herron family plot at Tom’s Creek Baptist Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the The Gideons International, Stephens County Gideons, P.O. Box 663, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 or to the American Diabetes Association, 3783 Presidential Parkway, Suite 102, Atlanta, Georgia 30340 in memory of Mr. Allan Jerome Juiffre.
