Varkey Mani

Mr. Varkey Mani, age 83, was called home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loved ones on December 26, 2022. He was born on March 11, 1939 at Ooramana in Kerala, India to the late Paily and Mariyam Varkey. He was the youngest of 6 siblings, 5 brothers and 1 sister. He was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at a young age. He was baptized and in fellowship with the local brethren assembly at Valakam, Kerala.  

Mr. Mani married Mercyamma Varghese, his wife of 52 years, on January 1, 1970.  God blessed them with one son, Mr. George Mani. 

Mr. Mani graduated from college with a Bachelor of Commerce, and worked professionally for 37 years with the State Bank of India in various cities around Kerala, India.  Mr. Mani served the Lord in the local Christian Assemblies wherever he was stationed.  He chose Ernakulam as his home town and worked at different locations in that city while serving at Bethel Brethren Assembly. He served as Treasurer and Elder and was active in many ministries during his time at Bethel Brethren Assembly. He boldly shared his faith in the community through open air meetings on Sunday evenings. 

Following retirement, Mr. Mani moved to live with his son in Georgia, USA and was in fellowship with the saints at Lake Lanier Bible Chapel.  He loved going for walks, spending time with his family, singing and was an avid gardener. 

Mr. Mani is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Paily Varkey, Aleyamma Arthungal, K.V. Joseph, K.V. Mathai, K.V. Ulahannan, and K.V. Abraham. 

Mr. Mani is survived by his dear wife of 53 years, Mercyamma Mani, his son George Mani and wife Annie Mani, along with their children Faith, Grace, and Caleb Mani. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews residing in the United States and India. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery.  Alfred John will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
