Geraldine Anita Harrell

Geraldine Anita Harrell was born in Prichard, Alabama on January 7, 1953, to Lillie Mae Ezell. Geraldine resided in several states before finding her forever home in Georgia in 2000.  Geraldine graduated from Murphy High School in 1971. She went on to S.D. Bishop State College where she earned her Associate degree, before going on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development at Alabama State University. She dedicated her career to early childhood education, working at La Petite Academy for over 20 years as a pre-kindergarten teacher.  On January 22, 2023, Geraldine passed away at home. Geraldine loved to sing and dance, as well as to cook her favorite dishes like collard greens and grilled ribs. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends and loved attending family reunions. Geraldine dedicated her life to Jehovah on July 24, 2020.  Geraldine was preceded in death by her grandmother Rosie Brown, mother Lillie Mae Ezell, grandson Jaleen Harrell, aunts Vera Belzzum, Izola Robinson, Mary Rocker, Dorothy Watkins, Ernestine Jones and Marzella Hill, uncle Clevester Ezell, and numerous cousins.  Geraldine leaves behind her three children, daughters Reshun Johnson (Sammy) and Latasha Walker and her son Julius Harrell. She also leaves behind her stepchildren Monica Smith (Antonio) and Lakilla Harrell, her four siblings Sylvester Ezell, Howard Townsend, Jackie Townsend and Albert Ezell, her granddaughters Chayona Boston, Amaree Walker and Amber Johnson, grandsons Ashton Johnson and Xavier Flunder, as well as a host of cousins.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service time.
