Brian Hopkins Jones

Obituary Date: Wednesday, March 1, 2023

Brian Hopkins Jones, age 55, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Brian grew up in Gainesville on Lake Lanier where he fell in love with the sport of water skiing. He competed and won many national titles in both slalom and jumping. After graduating from Gainesville High School, he attended the School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia. He worked for many years as a dental ceramist, eventually opening his own business.

He enjoyed drawing, cooking, and listening to music. He was known for his infectious smile, quick wit, sense of humor, and knowledge on just about any subject. He often read quotes by Albert Einstein and the following quote is the perfect example of how he lived his life. “The best way to cheer yourself is to cheer someone else up.” Brian will be missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Brian is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Jack Doyle and Sarah Shropshire Jones; sister Hope Jones Doering; grandparents Ramsay and Margaret (Peggy) Jarrett Jones; aunt Jean Jones Childs; uncles Jabez Jones, Fred Northcutt, and Bruce Childs; and cousin Lisa Childs Terrell.

He is survived by his aunts Margaret Ann Jones Northcutt and Virginia Smith Jones; cousins Irinda Northcutt Lundeen, Ken Northcutt, Jabe Jones, Julie Northcutt Porter, Donna Childs Eddy, Angela Childs Brock, and Kerrie Northcutt Glass; stepmother Barbara Barker Jones; and two stepsisters Kay Barker Quigley and Kandace Barker.

In the weeks ahead, immediate family will honor Brian with a celebration of life memorial.

Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Brian Hopkins Jones.
