Mr. Wendell Harrison Satterfield, age 83, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Wendell was born on April 2, 1939, to the late Charley and Isabel Satterfield. He was number seven of nine children. Wendell graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 1957 and married Betty Jo Bryant in 1959. They had three girls, Melanie, Kay, and Wendy. Wendell worked as a supervisor in the carpet industry for many years. He found a new hobby in woodworking after he retired and made many cornhole games, doll beds, kitchens, toy boxes, and numerous other projects for his family.
Survivors include his daughters, Melanie (George) Graves, Kay Farmer, and Wendy Smith; grandchildren, Grant (Riley) Graves, Brittany (Billy) Saunders, Trey Farmer, Caitlyn (Corey) Knight, and Hunter Smith; great-grandchildren, Libby and Sam Graves, Sophie, Emma and Will Saunders, Piper, and Abi Knight; sisters, Martha Dowdy and Sharla Fae Seabolt; brother, Robert Satterfield, and special friend, Janie Kemp.
In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Betty Jo; four sisters; one brother, and a son-in-law.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with Pastor David Ryder and Grant Graves officiating. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, April 3, 2023, at the funeral home.
