Betty Sue Gooch, 81 years of age, entered into her heavenly rest on April 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 23, 1941, to Paul Maynard and Ethel Taylor Gooch in Jackson County Georgia. Betty was a 1961 honor graduate of Jefferson High School. She began her business career as a bookkeeper in the office at New Holland Mill, then continued as a bookkeeper for Lancaster Jewelry and Music Company, finishing her career as the Law Librarian for Hall County, where she proudly worked for 33 years.
She gave her life to Christ at 11 years of age. She is a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia, where she faithfully served for many years teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, writing and directing Christmas pageants, and many other church projects including co-authoring the church history “To God Be the Glory.”
She enjoyed many hobbies including scrapbooking, photography, quilting, and collecting dolls, pottery, and dishes.
She is loved dearly and will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
She is survived by sisters, Bobbie (A.W.) Stover, Gainesville, Georgia, Joan (Rick) Braham, Baldwin, Georgia, and Sara Gooch, Gainesville, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Terry Gant) Stover, Lori (Johnny) Parker, Jamey Adams, J.P. (Jennifer) Adams, Brian (Meredith) Braham, and Brent (Ann Marie) Braham; great nieces and nephews, Taylor Parker, Lex Parker, Benjamin Adams, Wes Graham, Caroline Braham, Ridge Braham, Lucy James Braham, and Virginia Braham.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev. Lance Fuller officiating. The interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Sunday, April 23rd from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
