Jo Ann Moore Tatum

Jo Ann Moore Tatum was born on December 13, 1931, to the late Annie Carpenter Moore and Lee Moore of Toccoa (Stephens County) Georgia.

Mrs. Tatum graduated from Stephens County High School and then attended business school in Gainesville, Ga. Her work history includes Gainesville Midland Railway, The Times, WGGA Radio, and Hall County Tax Commissioner’s office. Her early career was spent in accounting and later working in tax collections until she retired at age 81.

She loved to travel with her friends visiting the west coast, Canada, and the mid-west. She also loved her church family and was an active member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church in Cleveland, Georgia prior to her declining health.

During her last few years of declining health, she has been cared for by very special ladies- Millie London, Delaine Gee, Karen Alexander, Lauren Lane, and her niece- Grace Moore. A grateful thank you to her nephews, Sam Craven and Ronnie Craven for their care and protection since residing in White County. She also received great care from her special caregivers at Magnolia Hills in Demorest and at Lanier Village in Cumming. The Affinity Hospice team has also provided comfort and care- thank you to Lori and Corrine and the other caregivers.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Frank L. Tatum; daughter, Phyllis Pritchett (Tim); son, Eddie Tatum; brothers- Ferd Moore (Sara Ruth), Coy Moore (Mozelle), Randall Moore (Jeanette), and James Moore (Zora); and sister-Clara Lee Cheek (Rufford).

She is survived by her daughters- April Mangum (Mike) of Cleveland, Reta Troutman (Brad) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Beverly Bailes (Buddy) of Gainesville; sister, Edna Moore Whitworth (Edward) of Toccoa; brother, Jerry Moore (Linda) of Toccoa; grandchildren- Ashley Poff (Jonathan) of Gainesville, Brandon Mangum (Alyssa) of Bogart, Jason Pritchett (Jennifer) of Avondale Estates, John Pritchett (Jill) of Canton, Matthew Wigington (April) of Braselton, and Shelly Patterson (Scotty) of Gainesville and 13 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Chattahoochee Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ga. on Sunday, May 28 at 2 pm with visitation at the church from 1-2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chattahoochee Baptist Church building fund- 7905 Duncan Bridge Road, Cleveland, Georgia.
