Debra Chafin Powel Knight

Mrs. Debra Chafin Powell Knight, age 71, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. She was born on November 11, 1951, in Mableton, Georgia, to the late Earle Chafin and the late Martha Ann Jordan Chafin. Debra was a woman of many artistic and creative talents. She loved flowers and was a certified Master Gardener. She created art from pressed flowers and was a member of the Dahlonega Art Guild. She loved to paint and to sew for her family. She was passionate about serving in church wherever she lived by singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and volunteering with Vacation Bible School.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Danny Powell; brother, Terry Chafin; and grandchildren Lily Kate Powell and Eleanor Knight. She is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, David Knight of Dahlonega; children Timothy Powell (Jennifer) of Nashville, Tennessee and Katie Grimes (Alan) of Mantee, Mississippi, as well as step-sons Jonathan Knight (Mandy), and Jordan Knight (Megan); brother Winfred Chafin (Andrea); sister-in-law Sonja Chafin; and grandchildren Danny Powell, Patrick Powell, Cooper Grimes, Elliot Grimes, and August Knight. She is also
survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and beloved friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Dahlonega Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of
Dahlonega Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be
