Charles Robert Wolk

Charles Robert Wolk, age 97, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Norma Mae Wolk on June 3, 2023.  He is survived by his children, Susan (Frank) Friskics of Suwanee, GA, Robert (Karen) Wolk of Bartlett, IL, John J. (Terri) Wolk of Louisburg, NC; grandchildren, Jon (Alauna) Friskics, of Orlando, FL, David (Brittany) Friskics of Brookhaven, GA, Michael (Marsha) Wolk of Clayton, NC, Amanda (Travis) Czysz of Louisburg, NC; great-grandchildren, Clara Friskics, Hadley Wolk, and Skye Friskics; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Chuck was born April 30, 1926 in Oak Park, IL and was a 1944 graduate of Proviso Township High School in Illinois.  He joined the Navy in 1944, was assigned to LCI699, and was a Chief Petty Officer First Class.  Chuck was sent to the Pacific and patrolled the Philippine Islands for the duration of WWII.  He came home in 1946 and went to a local vocational school to become a tool and die maker.  Chuck married Norma in 1949.  He was a member of the local Power Squadron in Ft. Lauderdale for over 30 years and taught navigation classes and safe boating classes until 2006 when he retired.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Chuck enjoyed playing the harmonica for the grandkids.  Chuck and Norma will be inurned together in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at a later date.
