Maudine Isabelle Williams

Everything that happens in this world, happens at the time God chooses. Sis. Maudine Williams is the daughter of the late Jessie Phillips and Love Morris of Lula, GA. She was married to the late Harold Williams of Cornelia, GA.

Mother Maudine was born in Athens, GA and was reared in Lula, GA at an early age, where she lived for 93 years.

In 1946, Mother Maudine gave her life to Chrisst, becoming a member of the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, at 16 years old.

She was raised in a loving Christian home, where her spirited growth and development continued to be nurtured in a great way. She had been active in various capacities serving God for over 77 years. Her service at Springfield includes but is not limited to : President of the Missionary Society; President of the Senior Choir and Sunday School Teacher both at church and at home, as many of her grandchildren and their friends would know. She was a life-long member of SMBC and a life-long learner who enjoyed studing the word of God. God was the guiding force in her life as she worked diligently, to express the love of God and exemplify His righteousness in daily life.

Mother Maudine graduated from Fair Street School in 1945 and attended Business and Nursing School in Nashville, TN and Rome , GA. She began working at the Hall County Hospital in October 1955, after giving 33 years if service; in August 1988, she retired as Unit Secretary from Northeast Georgia Medical Center and gained the title “Mother Maudine” because of her Disciplinary nature and Maintaining of Goodness and Respect on One West Orthopedics floor.

GOD set the time to love: On Monday, June 26, 2023, Mother Maudine took her place in heaven as another one of God’s Special Angels. Mother Maudine loved her family and friends, they were the joys of her life. She leaves to cherish her memories a Son; CPO Harold A. ( Brenda) Williams, Lula, GA; Daughters, Rebecca (John) Perry, Bethlehem, GA; Valerie Williams, Lula, GA; Cynthia Walker, Hermitage, TN and Deirdre Williams, Atlanta, GA. Special and Devoted, born and reared in household, Nieces and Nephew; Elizabeth Lyle and Regina Thornton, Lula, GA; Sgt. Kenneth (Bessie) Thornton, Salt Lake City, UT; Son-in-law, Esco Riley Jr, Gainesville, GA; Brother-in-law, Mordecai Wilson, Lula, GA; Goddaughters, Cathy Moses and family, Gainesville, GA; Janet J. ( Andre) Williams, Gainesville, GA; 10 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and Six Great Great Grandchildren; Special Loving Niece, Winnie Banks, Mt. Airy, GA; Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Longtime friend Cherry Terry.

GOD set the time for PEACE and JOY: She is now at peace in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, no more pain and suffering. She wanted her family, friends and the SMBC family to be happy that God saw fit to let her pass this way and touch so many lives in such a loving and caring way.

She is also preceded in death by her Brother, John C. Moon; Sisters: Cecil Bryson, Gloria Phillips, Sylvia E. Thornton and Mary Moon Wilson; Daughter, Zandra D. Riley; Son-in-law, Emmett E. Walker and Granddaughter, Michelle Riley.

The visitation will be held Friday, June 30th between the hours of 12-8pm. The family will be receiving friends from 6-8pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 1st at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church at the hour of 2pm. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
