Martha Chester

Martha Chester, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023 following a period of declining health.

Born October 26, 1948 to the late Cleve and Eva Wright, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  Martha retired from Sweet-Orr following 28 years of service, after which she assisted her husband in operating a poultry farm.  She enjoyed sewing, flowers and travel.  A member of Bethel Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Wade Wright.

Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Hermon Chester, Dawsonville; stepdaughter and son in law, Dava Jane and Randall Hudgins, Dawsonville; 2 grandchildren; sisters, Linda Lou Brown, Dawsonville, Mary Chester, Dahlonega; brother and sisters in law, Larry and Gloria Wright, Dawsonville, Deborah Padgett, Dawsonville; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. David Wright, Rev. Dennis Bottoms, and Rev. Stephen Davis will officiate.  Interment will following the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
