Regina Gerrells Scroggs

Regina Gerrells Scroggs, age 75, of Alto, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family and friends.

Born on March 11, 1948, in Baldwin, she was a daughter of the late Lowell Gerrells and Mattie Lee McDuffie Gerrells. Mrs. Scroggs worked as a Petroleum Specialist at Hasty Mart in Baldwin. Regina was a hard worker, was of the Holiness faith, and she enjoyed flowers, but above all, she loved her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Scroggs; son, Henry Lowell Scroggs; sister, Addelleen Shedd; brothers, T. L. Gerrells and Grady Brian Gerrells; brothers-in-law, Lamar Parker and Curt Chambers.

Survivors include sons, Dale Scroggs of Alto and Young Otis Scroggs of Jennings, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Nena Jarrell (Dale) of Demorest; sisters, Dolly Parker and Lisa Chambers, both of Baldwin; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Billy Shedd of Cleveland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the Chapel of McGahee ~ Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Haskell Eavenson and Rev. Terry Benfield officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery with Rev. Eavenson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 ~ 8:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023, and from 1:00 pm until the service hour on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the funeral home.
