Harry Moore Propes, Sr.

Harry Moore Propes, Sr – June 5, 1938 – August 15, 2023 – 85 years old

One more dedicated and die-hard Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket left this world on August 15, 2023, to root for the Eternity Team.

Harry Moore Propes grew up in Chicopee Village during the “best time of life”, graduated from Gainesville High School in the Class of 1956 and completed his education with an Industrial Management degree from his beloved Georgia Tech.  He still had his “rat cap”.   Go, Jackets!

He had an exemplary sales and management career in the textile industry beginning with Johnson and Johnson's Chicopee Manufacturing, including Dundee Mills and culminating with his retirement from Springs Industries – Gainesville Baby Products Division - as Warehouse and Distribution Manager.

A lifetime Baptist, Harry belonged to First Baptist of Gainesville for many years having been brought up in Chicopee Baptist Church and a number of years as a member at Lakewood Baptist Church.

His unique personality will be missed by family and friends alike. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Paul Swilling Propes and Gertrude Moore Propes, brother, Paul Propes, Jr. (Eloise), brother, Louis Propes (Wilma) and sister, Sara Propes Smallwood (Horace). 

Immediate survivors include his wife of 27 years, Connie Peebles Howard Propes, two sons Harry (Bubba) Moore Propes, Jr. (JoHelen) (Northport, AL), Matthew Timothy Propes (Rebecca) (Gilbert, AZ), stepson Philip Sterling Howard (Lynn) (Maysville, Ga) and sister Charlotte Propes Baker (Ron) (Tampa, FL) He is also survived by a large number of beloved grandsons, nieces, nephews and cousins.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no memorial service and no visitation.
