Larry M. Wright

Larry M. Wright, 76, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born October 31, 1946, Larry was the first baby born at Dr. Howard’s clinic in Dawsonville.  He was a lifelong resident of Dawson County and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Dawsonville.  Larry worked his entire career at Macklanburg-Duncan in Gainesville until his retirement after 38 years of service.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Larry was a simple, strong, quiet man who was the same every time you saw him.  Preceding him in death are his parents, Cleve and Eva Wright; sister, Martha Wright; brother, Wade Wright.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Gloria Wright; children, Paul Wright (Jennifer), David Wright, Tonya Newton (Brian), all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Morgan Wright, Dean Wright (Ashley), Brandon Newton, Belle Newton, Sara Beth Newton; sisters, Linda Lou Brown of Dawsonville, Mary Chester of Dahlonega; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. David Wright, Rev. Russell Davis, and Rev. Hubert Tinsley will officiate.  Interment services will follow in Tinsley Chapel Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 23 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday, August 24 from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
