Raymond Lamar Hooper

Mr. Raymond Lamar Hooper, age 86, of Gainesville, GA, passed away August 25, 2023, following an extended illness.

Mr. Hooper was born on April 20, 1937, to the late John Hooper and Jessie Payne Hooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Myra Hooper, and Kimberly Hooper; brother, Michael Ray Hooper; father and mother-in-law, Harvey Buffington, and Wilma Buffington.

Raymond loved his family and would do anything for them. He worked multiple jobs to provide for them. Raymond was a bookkeeper for over 43 years. His first bookkeeping job was with Stovall, Davidson and Green. He later opened his own bookkeeping business. Raymond was also known for greeting everyone with a smile as they would enter Sam's Club. When Raymond wasn't working, he could be found spending time with his grandchildren. Raymond was a faithful member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church for 64 years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Helen Buffington Hooper; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brandy Hooper of Flowery Branch, GA; granddaughter, Ella Hooper, of Flowery Branch, GA;

grandson, Zachary Hooper, of Gainesville, GA; a host of other relatives also survive.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Union Baptist Church.

Rev. Delma Simmons, Rev. Kevin Jenkins and Rev. Lance Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 4:00 p.m.
