James Thomas O'Kelley, Sr.

Mr. James Thomas O’Kelley, Sr., age 86 of Gainesville passed away on September 24, 2023 at his residence.  Mr. O’Kelley was born in Commerce to the late, Thomas Gibbs and Ruth Chandler O’Kelley.  Mr. O’Kelley was a retired for the US Army as a Full Colonel and also retired from the Georgia Department of Health.  Mr. O’Kelley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

Mr. O’Kelley is survived by his son, Jay O’Kelley (Mary) of Maysville; Jay’s mother, Angela Bloodworth O’Kelley; grandchildren, Jason O’Kelley and Sarah O’Kelley Strickland (Scott); great grandchildren, Mason O’Kelley, Jedha Strickland, and Corvin Strickland.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 28^th at 10 AM from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Coates and Mr. Buddy Anderson officiating with the interment following in Sunrise Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 5-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family request a fruit tree in memory of Mr. James Thomas O’Kelley, Sr.
