George “Chuck” Bly

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of George “Chuck” Bly, age 77, of Hoschton, Georgia. 

He entered into rest Tuesday October 3, 2023.

Chuck was born in Lewiston, Maine, the son of the late G. Frank Bly and Ezalee Audrey Gates Bly. 

He was employed by Superior Concrete in Auburn, ME for many years and then retired from Coast Pump, Sarasota, FL in 2014.  

He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.

He loved antique cars but his love of family was his legacy, with his grandchildren having a special place in his heart. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Gretchen Snowe Bly of Hoschton, GA, his three daughters, Candace Ferris (David) of Nokomis, FL, Heidi Peachey (Donald) of Sarasota, FL and Jodi Mann of Sarasota, FL, his two sons, Darren Ellis of Litchfield, ME and Nathan Ellis (Caitlin) of Venice, FL, eight grandchildren, James, Meghan, Matthew, Alex, Kyle, Austin, Sarah and Delaney, and three great grandchildren. Chuck is also survived by three sisters, Susan Grover (Charles) of Thomaston, ME, Kathy Roy (Randy) of Freeport, ME, Anne O’Mara (Jack) of Ipswich, MA and one brother, Jim Bly (Debbie) of Freeport, ME, and former sister-in-law, Olympia Snowe (Jock McKernan) of Falmouth Foreside, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Auburn, Maine.
