Glenda Parrish

Glenda Parrish, age 89, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She was born on November 7, 1933, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Fred Hood and the late Irene Nix Hood. Glenda was a homemaker and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She also enjoyed shopping and getting her hair fixed. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, A.T. Parrish; daughter Judy Martin; siblings Francis Armstrong, Charles Hood, Wanslie Fulbright, Vernon Hood, Clyde Hood, and Jewell Hood; sister-in-law Madgie Rider; as well as numerous other relatives. 

She is survived by her children, Belinda Martin of Cleveland, Kenneth Parrish of Dahlonega, Stanley Parrish of Dahlonega, James Parrish of Dahlonega, and Shane (Scott) Mincey of Dahlonega; siblings Vera Mae Crane, Marvin Hood, and Jimmy Hood; grandchildren Eddie Martin, Andy Martin, Dianne Smith, Jonathan Martin, Lee Martin, and Stephanie Terry; special niece Vickie Abercrombie, and special nephew Greg Hood; special friend Pam Moss; beloved dog “Mickey”, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also survive. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, October 23, 2023, in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Freddy Bryan, The Rev. Jonathan Martin, and The Rev. Terry Head will officiate. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with The Rev. John Reece officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM. 

The family would like to express their appreciation for all of the wonderful care given to Mrs. Glenda in her final days by the staff of Chelsea Park Health & Rehabilitation.
