Edith Beatrice (Brookshire) Averett

Mrs. Edith Beatrice (Brookshire) Averett, age 100, of Gainesville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2023, at Mountain View Health Center in Clayton, Georgia.

Mrs. Averett was born on August 14, 1923, to the late Early Richard Brookshire and Sultena (Flanagan) Brookshire of Gainesville, Georgia.

Mrs. Averett worked as a welder at the shipyard in Brunswick, Georgia during World War II. During her lifetime, she also worked at New Holland Mill and had an upholstery business. She retired from the Florida Department of Labor after working there for many years.

Mrs. Averett is preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Fauscett and husband, Ed Averett; two sisters, Ernestine Wilson and Claudean Rowell; three brothers, Carlton Brookshire, Harold Brookshire and Hoyt Brookshire.

She is survived by her brother, Joel Brookshire and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 30, 2023 at Dunagan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Georgia.
