Larry Wayne Flowers

Obituary Date: Friday, November 3, 2023

Mr. Larry Wayne Flowers, 75, of Sautee-Nacoochee, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at his residence.

Larry’s love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren knew no bounds. He loved his wife madly and was totally devoted to her. He often told the story of how he knew after their first date that he was going to marry her and he did everything he could to make that happen. They spent 50 years together in a life full of love for each other and their family.

Larry spent his life in service to others first as a Communications Center Specialist in the Air Force, as a firefighter for the City of Memphis for ten years then as a Regional Coordinator with AFLAC where he spent over 20 years helping others have peace of mind that they would have all the insurance coverage they would need to get through an illness or injury. His daughter Jennifer watched him give hope to cancer patients that had AFLAC policies by personally delivering checks directly to them to help with expenses. He was a recovering alcoholic and longtime member of Hall County’s recovery community where he spent 33 years helping others by sharing his experience and love for the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. He took meetings to half-way houses, treatment centers and jails sharing his experience, strength and hope and helping others see there was another way to live. He absolutely loved being a part of the recovery community and sharing the program, giving hope to others that life could be beautiful and meaningful. His legacy will live on through the spirit of Alcoholics Anonymous and the sage advice and wisdom he shared with others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy Flowers, and great granddaughter Isabella Rider.

Survivors include his wife Barbara; daughters, Jennifer Agnew (Brent), and Rebecca Hupp (Ryan); son, John Flowers (Victoria); grandchildren, Caitlyn Rider (Nathaniel), Caleb Hacker, Sage Agnew, Sierra Moon, Matthew Torres and Enzo Flowers; great grandchildren Wilder and Harper Rider, Sevyn Gaymon, and special sister-in-law Sharmon Holly who was instrumental in helping his family through the tragedy of the last two years.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Father Tim Hepburn will officiate.
