Mary Holland Gilstrap

Obituary Date: Monday, November 13, 2023

Mrs. Mary Holland Gilstrap, 90, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Darryl Womack will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on February 19, 1933, in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Floyd K. and Idell Fowler Holland. She was retired from the U.S.D.A. where she was a Federal Grader (inspector) after 36 years of service. She took great pride in her work ethic and caring for her family. Mrs. Gilstrap was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilstrap was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Gilstrap; son, Billy Guy Turk; sister, Ruby Dean Holland; brothers, A.C. Holland, Cecil Holland and son in law, Billy L. Tuck.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Linda and Phillip Palmer of Lavonia; daughter, Judy Tuck of Gainesville; grandchildren, David Tuck, Christy Tuck, Julie Slater, Sharla Engle, Keith Pirkle; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and a number of other loving relatives.
