Charlotte Anne Ziemer

Mrs. Charlotte Anne Ziemer, age 86, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 27, 1936, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to the late Earl Alexander and the late Lottie Plumb Alexander. 

Charlotte's passion was music. A talented pianist, she self-taught herself the instrument at the age of 7 and played for many local churches in the Dahlonega area throughout her life. Her musical talent brought joy and inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to hear her play.

Her family was her everything, and she cherished every moment spent with them. When you read Proverbs 31, you might as well be reading about Charlotte, as she exemplified the virtues of a woman of strength, grace, and compassion.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Ziemer; siblings Joseph Alexander, Violet Williams, Lois Rainsbarger, Dorothy Hayes, and Chuck Alexander; and step brothers Kenneth Stiles and Lowell Stiles.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 57 years, George Ziemer of Dahlonega; children Zandra (Johnny) Loggins of Dawsonville, Rachel (David) Fields of Dahlonega, David (Ellen) Ziemer of Gainesville, Danny (Christy) Ziemer of Gainesville, and Angela (Jennifer) Ziemer of Braselton; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren (one on the way). Numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate Charlotte's life are scheduled for Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, with her son, Danny Ziemer, officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Antioch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
